The Wife of the Sokoto State Governor and founder of MMAWT legacy initiative, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, was today a special guest of Honour at the maiden edition of the league of past students union leaders and launching of the Students Union Magazine, organized by the students union government of the Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.
The event themed: Student unionism and life after school, featured a panel of discussion on life after school, Entrepreneurship and other challenges confronting graduates in the society.
In her Goodwill message delivered by her representative, Hajiya Laraba Dattijo, the wife of the governor applauded the initiative of the SUG for organizing the event, which she said, will help the current students learn from alumni of the university and graduants across board. She urged them to key into Initiatives and programmes that can add value to them launched by NGO ’s, Government and philanthropists in the state and extended the remarks to representatives of the league.
Hajiya Maryam Mairo Tambuwal also commended them for launching their own magazine, which she said will help in facilitating information dissemination between the university community and the larger society and also called on all the students to embrace Entrepreneurship in order to have a starting point immediately after graduation without having to wait for white collar jobs.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of the School, Professor Abdullahi Zuru, thanked the wife of the governor for attending the event and commended her for her extra ordinary interest in Youth Development and Empowerment.
The highlight of the event was the formal launch of the magazine and presentation of Merit awards to other deserving individuals for their untiring Contribution to Education, Societal well-being and development.
The presentation was done by the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the student union government.
