A Sokoto based Islamic institute has graduated 56 female students who successfully memorised the Holy Quran. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Gidan Kanawa Islamic Institute, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, commended the students for the achievement.
He lauded the progress made by women and girls in knowledge acquisition in Sokoto State. He also assured of continued support to female education.
Wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Tambuwal, who was Special Guest at the event, applauded the graduating students and the teachers.
She noted that strict adherence to the teachings of the Holy Quran leads to a meaningful, dignified and productive way of life. The Governor ‘wife who was represented by Professor Sa’adiya Umar Bello, also called on the graduating students to utilise the skills they learnt while in the institute to be self-reliant.
Mrs Tambuwal pledged continuous support to all women, youths and children -targeted projects. She also urged women in the state to make good use of the empowerment opportunities being rolled out by the administration of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
