The offline training for the shortlisted candidates of the Tony Olumelu foundation and the UNDP Sahel Entrepreneurship Programme has commenced in Sokoto today.

The training programme organised by TEF – UNDP in collaboration with MMAWT Legacy Initiative expected to last for 4 days will equip the Shortlisted candidates and other participants with the necessary skills to successfully start and run a business.

The key topics covered in the first session are : Defining your idea, product and service, delivered by Dr Shadi Sabeh, Scoping your Market Opportunity, by Abdulrahman Liman, Developing your product or service, by Jamilu Sani and Pricing your product, by Malam Nasir Daniya.

In his introductory remarks, the programme Manager TEF UNDP (Nigeria and Niger) Dr Shadi Sabeh urged the shortlisted applicants and participants to use the opportunity being given to them through the training to equip themselves with the necessary skills needed to be entrepreneurs. He also spoke on the need for all especially the youth to venture into Entrepreneurship especially now that white collar jobs are becoming increasingly scarce.

Dr Shadi Sabeh also extended the appreciation of the TEF – UNDP programme to the founder of MMAWT legacy initiative and wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri, for sponsoring the training and commended her for her relentless efforts and willingness to always contribute her own quota to the development of the youth.

It is expected that successful applicants will gain a non-refundable seed capital of $5000, business training and mentoring. They will also receive visibility and numerous business networking opportunities.
