The founder of MMAWT Legacy Initiative and wife of the Sokoto state governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has facilitated the relocation of Fatima and her new born baby boy from Badawa village to an area in Sokoto Metropolis for proper monitoring and easy access to healthcare facilities.
The Foundation also secured the services of a Nanny that will help guide the young mother and generally supervise the well-being of the baby.
On hand to receive Fatima at her new home was the wife of the Secretary to the state government, Hajiya Asiya Saidu Umar, the Special Adviser to the governor on female education, Hajiya Aisha Maina, the permanent Secretary Ministry of social welfare and community development, Director General SOSMEDA, Dr Binta Lawal Maidoki, Hajiya Fatima Illo, Hajiya Hadiza Danmadamin Isa, Hajiya Ummu Abubakar, friends and associates of the foundation. The associates also donated, 15 sets of baby clothes for the baby, Atamfa brocades for the mother, baby toiletries and other essentials.
MMAWT Legacy Initiative has also provided food items and all requirements of the baby and mother.
In our earlier report regarding the case we highlighted that “Fatima Abubakar,a 12 year old mentally challenged girl was raped by an unknown person and eventually got pregnant. Fatima who lives alone with her old grandmother in Wajeke village of Wamakko local government, was banished along with her grandmother from Wajeke ,so had to move to the grandmother’s village called Badawa in Bodinga local government where a smaller mud house with no door was made for them by some relatives.
We all at MMAWT Legacy Initiative will like to thank Dr Oparaji an examplary youth Corp member who relentlessly followed up Fatima’s case to the extent of soliciting help via Facebook and other means when all hope seemed lost.
