The Founder of MMAWT legacy initiative and wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was a special guest of honour and speaker at a seminar on domestic violence organized by Women Organization For Relief and Empowerment an NGO of the Wife of the Emir of Kano, HRH. Hajiya Maryam Lamido Sanusi in Kano state .
The Seminar themed : Finding a lasting Solution featured presentations from some renowned women leaders on related topics such as : Domestic violence from Islamic perspective, delivered by Hajiya Halima Shittu, Domestic violence, medical perspective by, Professor Hadiza Galadanci,
Domestic violence legal perspective by, Chief Magistrate, High court of Justice , MNI Haj. Maryam Ahmed Sabo, mni and also Chair, Kano State Revenue Court, member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, member, Commonwealth Magistarate and Judges Association, and Member of Int. Federation of Women Lawyers.
Domestic violence experience from Hisbah, by Hajiya Ummu Khulthum Kasim and Domestic violence the Social aspect by Professor Aisha Tofa.
Her Royal Highness, Hajiya Maryam Lamido Sanusi also presented a paper tagged : Strength in Unity.
In her remarks, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, commended the Wife of the Emir for such a timely Seminar, considering the continuous reports on the increase of Domestic violence leading to the break up of many homes and families.
As she sighted numerous cases in Sokoto and intimated the audience on the MMAWT L.I advocacy on these issues in the state .
She emphasized on strong callaborations with spouses of district heads , local
Government chairmen and women , FBO’s (Faith based organizations ) traditional institutions and others to be a vessel to create more awareness and pro-active measures to be taken under such circumstances .
The Founder in her remarks highlighted a drift from the generic perspectives to share from the angle of abused children and persons , excessive jealousy , victims and survivors of rape , assault , domestic staff molestation , couples with special
Ailments and stigma , poor nutrition , street children , persons living with disabilities , post partum depression and pre natal likewise , substance abuse , joblessness , wellbeing and lifestyle , policy enactment and proclamations with all areas of jurisdiction as a contributory factor to the menace Which applies to both Gender !
Special recognition was paid by the founder to the likes of Professor Fatima Batul muktar who she singled out in the crowd and made a joke out of the inconclusive and conclusive INEC pronouncement of Rt. Honourable Aminu Tambuwal as chief executive officer of Sokoto State in the last elections .
