MMAWT LEGACY INITIATIVE FLAGS OFF A CONSOLIDATED PALLIATIVES DISTRIBUTION, …

The Founder of MMAWT Legacy Initiative and wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal today flagged off the foundation’s Empowerment and palliatives distribution program which targeted women and vulnerable groups in Sokoto, and will be duplicated across the 23 Local government areas of the state.

The event which was done inline with the Zakat commission’s beneficiaries selection method featured distribution of food items, sewing machines, Grinding machines, Rice milling machines, economic trees seedlings, start up capital and other empowerment materials was held at the government house Sokoto and had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Sokoto state, His Excellency Hon Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, who was the special guest of honour, represented by the Chief Medical Director of Maryam Abacha women and children hospital, the Chairman Teachers Service Board Sokoto, Alhaji Bello Yabo. In a paper presentation on the significance of Charity delivered by the Chairman, Sokoto State Zakat commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sokoto) he emphasized on the importance of charity and its significance to peace and development. Professor Sa’adiya Umar Bello also presented a paper on on Yantarun Nana Asma’u as a tool for addressing educational gender gaps and tackling Gender-Based Violence,which was concluded with a beautiful live performance by the ancient Yantarun Nana Asma’u troupe.

The state Commissioner of Social welfare and community development, Professor Aishatu Madawaki, presented an overview of the foundation’s performance so far, while the legal officer of the foundation, Barrister Buhari Abdullahi Maigwandu intimated the gathering on the legal aspects of MMAWT Legacy Initiative’s interventions. In her speech, the Founder of MMAWT legacy initiative and wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Spoke on the humanitarian activities of the foundation, targeted at all sectors of the society and echoed the need for support from local-organizations, and development partners while pledging her commitment to do more for humanity. Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, also spoke about her commitment to the development of the girl child and Youth development, campaign against Gender-Based Violence and other related issues. Hajiya Maryam Mairo Tambuwal, restated the need to set aside Political affiliations and nepotic interests when giving incentives to the poor, in her words; “MMAWT legacy initiative is an apolitical and non-political platform, solely dedicated to improving the lives of people and the improving the Environment”The Founder and Wife of the Governor commenced the flag off of the consolidated humanitarian interventions which includes palliatives , distribution program and medical outreach supported by Doctors and volunteers from the state Ministry of Health and COVID-19 Volunteers group from the state COVID 19 task force team .The team of medical volunteers screened beneficiaries for Diabetes, Hypertension, Malaria and Typhoid while those who tested positive were imediately given medications to commence treatment.The white and blue theme adopted for the event, signifies peace and love.The highlight of the event was the featuring of S.A.W.T who is one of the child ambassadors for enlightenment on vaccinations ! She congratulated all stakeholders who ensured Nigeria has been certified Polio free.The flag off ceremony was held inat the government house today and will be continued in all senatorial zones and it’s affiliate local government areas in the state.

 The MMAWT Legacy Initiative adopted part of the selection model of the ZAKKAT and WAQF (Endowment) Commission in selecting beneficiaries of the disttibuted itemsas the Commission donated over 1000Seedlings with enormous socio economic benefits and re-instated the synergy on the foundations #climate change and tree planting initiative. Her Excellency, Haj. Maryam Mairo Aminu Tambuwal noted during the ceremony, that it was important for members of the society irrespective of social status to always engage in acts of Charity.
