*Statement by Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi, President of the Medical Women’s Association on International Women’s Day 2021*
Happy International Women’s day 2021 to all women around the world .
We commemorate the day under the theme “Women in leadership :achieving an equal future in the COVID-19 world “ and the campaign theme #choosetochallenge .
I raise my hand boldly to challenge the obnoxious and obscene acts of criminality and cruelty in the form of femicide, violence against women and girls including sexual violence, harmful traditional practices and kidnappings
I choose to celebrate the increasing number of women in leadership across the world as Presidents, Prime Ministers , Executive directors, Heads of corporations etc who have broken the glass ceiling and our role models for young girls.
I choose to challenge the status quo in areas where there are barriers and hindrances to women rising to positions of leadership.
In order to achieve an equal future in a COVID-19 world, the resilience, ingenuity and creativity of women must be recognized as a blueprint for building back better.
In a post COVID-19 world. let us borrow this tried and tested template from women as we plan for a world of equality and human flourishing for women alongside men.

    PROVIDENCE AND CELEBRATING YOUNG ACHIEVERS

    - by mmawt

Earlier on today I met with two young boys , one of them orphaned and from plateau state who had been adopted by a Mother figure to us all for years on a familiarization visit and seek for meaningful engagement as source of livelihood for him to compliment the efforts of his foster mother whom I choose not to mention her name (Yunusa)
And unfailingly been paying for his house rent in Sokoto !
Some years back we as a family went on visitation at the Airforce military School in Jos on routine visiting days .
I met a young boy who is close friends with my son / Nephew crying frantically so I hugged him and asked him what the problem was ? He then narrated how bad he feels that his mother could not come and visit him so I asked for her number and called her . I was moved when she herself began crying that sokoto to Jos is quite a distance and she is the bread winner of the family who barely raised all the items he needed for his enrollment .
I spoke to him and made him understand that he needs to appreciate the efforts of his parents and that should not break his determination .
Alhamdulillah we had kept a good relationship with him since then and being a good friend of my son and all of them having dreams to finish from AFMS Jos and proceed to NDA .
He won the Award of best in BUSH ACTIVITIES and best in CROSS COUNTRY
and an indigene of Tambuwal Local Government.
I was fortunate to attend their passing out parade alongside family members with raw emotions and couldn’t stop the tears of joy watching them in display where I met his siblings and well-wishers all the way from Sokoto .
Indeed , Patience is a virtue!
Though he didn’t make it to NDA , I was overjoyed on how he has been mentored as an Enterprenuer in furniture making and has been reciprocating by assisting his parents from his profits .
Today I formally adopted Abba Isah Sani of formerly PUMA SQAUDRON , Born on 03/03/1999 .
As my son and i pledged my foundation will meaningfully engage him whilst in school .
Irrespective of his humble background and limited slots per states into such schools .
He has indeed made Sokoto state proud and deserve accolades .
He is in the university now in Sokoto and was admitted on merit with very good grades
    English C5
    Mathematics A1
    Government B2
    Civic education A1
    Financial Accounting B3
    Further mathematics B2
    Geography C6
    Marketing A1
    Computer studies A1
We cracked jokes on the usual wellcome message to parents when admitted to such schools ‘’ YOU HAVE JUST SIGNED YOUR SONS DEATH WARRANT ‘’
I lost my brother and father to my son in November a few years back who death didnt give him the opportunity to witness the POP but this made my day .
    Alhamdulillah !
