The wife of the Sokoto State Governor and founder of MMAWT legacy initiative, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called on the members of the residents community in Sokoto State to go about their normal activities without any fear of molestation. She made the call at the roundtable organized between the initiative and various resident community groups in the state. Notably, those who have consistently supported the MMAWT legacy initiative activities in various ways.
The wife of the governor who was represented by Dr Sadiya Umar Bello, said she is saddened by the reports, complains and letters she has received of fear within members of the resident community despite the assurances given by the state government for the safety of their lives and properties.
She described the long standing relationship of harmony and mutual respect between the good people of Sokoto state and its resident community as a relationship forged with trust, and therefore too strong to be broken by mere agitations of some miscreants, who are seeking to sow the seed of disunity amongst the good people of Nigeria.
The emphasis made on Women being Mothers and known to be custodians of peace, tolerance, and understanding prompted was further solicitation to play their role by helping to correct misguided youths in the society!
Hajiya Maryam Mairo Tambuwal emphasized ” Sokoto State being the seat of the caliphate, populated by people who are versed in Islamic knowledge and an unblemished record of maintaining the long existing cordial relationship between people of mixed faith won’t and shouldn’t stoop to the level of attacking one another because of acts perpetrated by some misguided people hundreds of kilometers away “.
She also called on the members of the resident community to guard themselves from making inflammatory comments in reprisal or anger capable of disrupting the peace.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the resident community, Mrs Stainless, thanked the wife of the governor for the gesture and assured her of their continuous support for the Government of Sokoto state. She further stressed that majority of the members of the resident community no longer see themselves as residents, because of the love and kindness shown to them by the good people of Sokoto state.
Comrade Luka Jacob, who also spoke on behalf of the youth wing of the resident community, assured of their commitment to the unity of Nigeria and thanked the wife of the Governor for carrying them along in all activities of her initiative. Members of the community took turn to speak and pledge their readiness to live in peace with one another.
A special prayer was offered for the continuous unity of Nigeria and the success of Governor Aminu Waziri led administration in its quest to develop Sokoto State.
The roundtable which took place earlier today was attended by Members of Igbo community, Yoruba community, multi tribe community, spiritual leaders, Religious groups, Ansar’uddeen, NASFAT, MMAWT Volunteers, Youth wing and Ambassadors among others.
It was concluded that everyone volunteers as peace advocates and spread the spirit of love across board using every available medium.
