Wife Of The Sokoto State Governor Visits Orphans Adopted From IDP Camps By Sokoto State Elder Statesman And Philanthropist!

The Wife of the Sokoto State Governor and founder of MMAWT legacy initiative, Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, today visited the 150 Orphans adopted from Borno ,Yobe and Sokoto States respectively by Jarman Sokoto, Dr Ummarun Kwabo at the special school and shelter he built to cater for their wellbeing and education located at Guiwa polo Club Sokoto.

The Wife of the Governor was received on arrival by the Jarman Sokoto alongside Malam Lawal Maidoki, Chairman Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Committee, who is also the Coordinator of the adoption programme, Malam Mansur Ibrahim, the Chief Imam of polo Club Jumu’at Mosque and Katukan Sokoto, Alh Maigari Dingyadi among others.

Hajiya Maryam Aminu Waziri Tambuwal met first with the children and was later conducted round the new school by Malama Inno Attahiru, who is also a member of the adoption committee.
The school is a standard boarding school, with Dormitories, classrooms, relaxation areas, Tailoring wing and fully equipped staff and personnel dedicated to the welfare of the Children.
Impressively, these children are being treated for trauma, counseling and the project is intended to cater for them Up until their University years.

In his welcome address Malam Lawal Maidoki, briefed the wife of the governor on the adoption procedure that was followed and the criteria that was used to adopt the children whom have all lost both parents as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno and Yobe States.

In her remarks, the wife of the governor thanked Dr Ummarun Kwabo for the gesture which she said did not come to her as a surprise, considering the philanthropic activities of the Jarman Sokoto.
Hajiya Maryam Mairo Tambuwal thanked all those who made the entire project a success, called on others to emulate and pledged her total support and also promised her continuous support to the Children.

In his vote of thanks, Dr Ummarun Kwabo said, he was prompted into action by the recent report which stated that there are over 50 thousand orphaned children in IDP camps within Borno state and other conflict states where most of them were reported to be Largely girls and his long held belief that society can be better when people who can afford to spread love and interventions step forward to do the needful !
The Jarman Sokoto further stated that, though a lot of dignitaries have visited the Children upon their arrival, one visitor he was convinced the Children will have as a stabling factor is the wife of the governor, whom he described as the mother of the motherless in Sokoto State and urged her relentless effort to touch lives .
He also commended her for her humanitarian activities on the platform of MMAWT Legacy Initiative, and called on her to sustain the laudable initiatives .

The highlight of the event was a one on one Chat between the Wife of the Governor and the children, and later presentation of Books, toys and other essentials needed to cater for the children. A special prayer was also held for the success of the programme and the well-being of the children!
